How Great Thou Art

Hi everyone,

I hope that you all have had a great day.

Today I read the blog of a new blogging friend. She talked about being able to go to church Sunday. She has had an illness that has made her unable to go out much. And the treatments cause her a lot of pain. She was feeling much better this past Sunday. :)

She wrote of a song they sang. It was Amazing Grace. She said that the part of the song that goes 'was blind but now I see'  gave her goose bumps up and down her spine. And she described the  things that she 'sees' now because of her illness. I thought that I can relate with her because I had the same thing happen to me illness-wise. And it makes you see the world and everything in a new light.

Then her post reminded me of something.  One Sunday last year at our church service we sang  How Great Thou Art. We were singing the third verse:

And when I think that God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in.
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to away My sin.

(Chorus)

Then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

The part, 'I scarce can take it in' touched me so much that I scarce could take it in. The tears came, a tissue came from my friend seated next to me.  When this feeling happens to us, it is the Holy Spirit talking to our spirit. Ours hearts being open to the spirit at these times is a wonderful thing. The feeling that it brings, like a little piece of Heaven. Wouldn't it be great to feel that all the time?

When I think of what Jesus did for me, for all of us. It makes my heart full, my chest burns inside, my heart beats so fast that I feel like it may burst.(in a good way) God so loved us that He sent His Son. Jesus so loved us that He suffered greatly and died for us. This suffering or atonement that He made for us goes a lot deeper than we can imagine.  I can say that I love him with all my heart, might, mind and strength, but that isn't anywhere near as much as he loves me and all of us. Imagine!

I feel that if I don't have a moment like that each Sunday then there is something wrong with me. :) And it is so great when I do. I pray that I can live worthy of Their love. That I can be the kind of person They want me to be.

Thank you Heavenly Father and Jesus for the feelings I feel. For my heart being opened. For the witness of the Holy Spirit to me of the truths that I hear and the knowledge that I have. Thank you.

Take care everyone.....

  1. Beautiful post.
This song is one of my favorites, and fills a special place in my heart.
It was also one of the songs that I sang at my grand-dads funeral.
Thanks for your sweet thoughts, and the sweet reminder of how blessed and loved we are by our Father in Heaven.
