Awwww and OUCH!

Awwww, is this sweet or what? Made me smile. I found this on another blog. Tanya I hope you don't mind that I copied it. It is just too cute.

Ok, I know that I have not posted since Monday. This is one of the reasons why....On the Thursday before Christmas I had a tooth pulled. I decided that since it had been bothering me a little for 3 days that I should go in and see if it should be pulled.  I didn't want to have it bothering me during Christmas weekend. Well, I would have been able to handle the little annoying pain of that compared to the HUGE EXCRUCIATING pain following the removal.
My goodness!  I don't know what happened but I was taking tylenol like crazy for 5 days.  My dentist was out for the holiday til Tuesday night.  I even went to the ER at 5am Monday morning after not sleeping at all cause the tylenol decided to stop working. They gave me a stronger pain killer and I went home. Tuesday afternoon I was able to get the hole packed with some chewing tobacco. lol  The dentist said that is what it looked like.  I had to see it cause I didn't know what chewing tobacco looked like. To me it looked like a brown hair ball . Yuck, and he put that in my mouth?? lol Anyway, I am doing better now.

Well I should go. It is late or early whichever you'd like to say, 2:14 am.  Have a wonderful Friday. Thanks for stopping by.  Take care

Merry Christmas

Hi there,   It is now 2:14 am.  I haven't turned into a pumpkin yet. lol  And I guess Santa won't come til I get to bed. Oh well.  I am up making chocolate cupcakes to surprise my husband when he gets up. They are for me too. I am a chocoholic. They will have white frosting, yummm.  And I will probably get most of them since he shouldn't be eating them.
I am also talking to a friend on the computer. He is talking about the prophecies of Daniel and Revelations.

This Christmas it will just be my hubby and I. We usually read from Luke of the birth of our Savior.  I am so grateful for his life, for his teachings, his example. He loves each one of us so much. It is amazing.

I would like to say to each of you my new friends...Have the Merriest of Christmases. I pray that you all feel the PEACE that Jesus can give you this day and always.

OUCH and BRRRR

Hi there, I hope everyone had a great Thursday.  We did get our 6 inches of snow all of which had to be swept off the car this morning so I could go to get a tooth pulled.

That is the OUCH!  :)  For the past 3 days it has hurt when I've gotten up.  I didn't want to not do anything about it cause it might have just decided to kill me over the weekend and that would not have been fun. So I went to get it checked and the DDS said that it should be pulled.  The only time it hurt after that was after the novacaine (sp) wore off 4 hours later. WOW, that hurt but just for a minute I made the mistake of letting water get in that side of my mouth, won't do that again. I am doing fine now. I will get to rinse with salt water tomorrow :)

Then the BRRRR is, we are going to get down to at least -1 degrees tonight.  A couple hours north of here is going to get -10 so it might get us too. Not sure.

Anyway, I should go. Have pasta on the stove and I'm a little tired. Take care all, and Merry Christmas to those who I won't see here again til next week.  ((( Christmas Hugs)))

Weather Update

It is 2:45 am. and 15 degrees.  I have just come in from sweeping snow off the porch/deck for the 3rd time.  I think we have our 6 inches. And it is still coming down. It is pretty. :) It is nice that it is light snow and not the heavy hard to sweep or shovel kind.

Anyway, sometime soon I have to go to bed lol.  Not sure how soon though. Not sure if  I'm tired.

Take care

Weather Report, Welcome Angela :)

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great Wednesday evening. And Happy First Day of Winter.

Here it is 18 degrees or so and snowing. According to the weatherman on KSL TV in Salt Lake City, Utah, the mountains  are suppose to get 3-6 inches of snow. I hope we get 6 inches.  We are kinda at the same elevation as the mountains are. I think. We have snow on the ground still from , my goodness, maybe a month ago. But only where the sun can't melt it.  Now it is covering everything. It is snowing lightly now though.

It may not snow on Christmas but it will be a White Christmas ( I love that movie ) with the snow on the ground.

Sorry that I have not been keeping up with posting here and commenting on your blogs. Things have been kinda crazy here with my hubby's problems and other problems I have had to deal with. But we will get through it. :)  Thank you all so much for your sweet comments :)

To those of you who won't be here till after Christmas, have a wonderfully Merry Christmas.  And to the rest of you, see you soon and have a great evening and and wonderful Thursday. Take care, ((BIG HUGS))

Santa Baby

Good morning everyone,

It is 6:14 a.m. here. I have not been to bed yet.  I finished what I was doing on the computer about an hour ago and went to go to bed. But my husband was awake and hungry so he got up and I turned on the  TV.
Then I heard him call me from the other end of the house. He said he was feeling weak. I went to him and saw that he was sweating, and had beads of perspiration on his head. Uh oh, low blood sugar. So I checked and I was right. The meter read 51. So I gave him a couple teaspoons of honey.  It is going back up, slowly.  He is also eating something else which will also help it go up. You have to be careful not to give too much sweets because it can go up quickly and be too high.
My goodness.

This evening, well Sunday into Monday, I was visiting with friends on the internet. I have a religion chat room on a program called Paltalk. I was on Paltalk but in a friend's room chatting when this friend decided to play songs that he sang and recorded on a music site.  I remembered that about 4 years ago or so I had recorded one.  He had kept it and played it several times in his room.  I asked him if he still had it.  He found it and played it. Would you like to hear it? http://www.singsnap.com/karaoke/watchandlisten/play/b4ddcb90
Just push play. Enjoy.

Nippy, Christmas Tree, Help!, Dinner and Henry Winkler

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great Thursday.

It is a bit nippy here. I don't want to even open the door anymore today.  I have to though, a few more times for Princess Downy. :)

I put up a little Christmas tree just now. It sits on one of the tables that I use for my craft work.  I put a rustic quilted pillow cover underneath it. It looks nice. I will try in the next little while to get a picture of it. I will have to put it on here after Christmas with other photos that I have mentioned. I don't have a digital camera yet. So I have to get the pictures developed and it takes a while.

I am in need of some help from any of you who  knows how I can make a three column minima on blogspot.  Well first I need to know how to get out of the new templates I guess. I created a new blog for my business. But it only gave me a small choice of templates and said I could change it later. So I chose the Simple template. I think. So what I need to do first, I guess is find out how to switch back to where I can get a minima and then make it a 3 column.  Is that possible?? Help help!

I think we are going to have breakfast for dinner tonight.  French toast and eggs. I don't have that too often.  Or maybe pancakes...no, too many dishes to wash.  I don't want to be in the kitchen all night lol

Tonight is the movie 'The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.' Henry Winkler is in it. He cracks me up.  I love that movie. :)

Well I should go.  More later maybe. Have a great evening.  Take care.

Powdered Sugar Snow

Wow! It has been 3 or 4 days since I have written anything here.  Hubby, (Mel) was having a bad few days. He is doing a little better now. Thank you for your prayers.

I wish I had a camera right now. The front porch/deck is sparkling. :) Sure is pretty. And slippery. there will be one more trip outside with Princess Downy. BRRRR It is supposed to get to 12 degrees during the night.

The weatherman on the Salt Lake City, Utah channel that we get up here showed pictures of a home on South Temple Street, right downtown. It had decorated trees out front, just lightly dusted by the snow. He called it powdered sugar snow. :) I like that.

It is almost midnight. And I still have some things to do before going to bed.

Take care everyone and have a great day. ((hugs))

Roller Coaster Ride, Anyone?

Ok, it is 3:38 am.  I have been wondering for a while if I would have the umph to write a post.

A friend on msn messenger asked me a while ago if I was going to post tonight. I said that I wasn't sure. I didn't know what I would write about. He said call it 'Roller Coaster Ride, Anyone?'  He was referring to the one my husband and I had just been through this evening. It made me also think about another 'ride' I went on about 15 years ago or so. Well, here goes.....

My husband has had health problems since I have known him, about 10 1/2  years. He is diabetic and has gone from trying to control it (his blood sugar) with insulin then pills and back to insulin again.  We have had many low blood sugar times. It is scary. And it always happens at night, which always makes it scarier for me.
Up until this past May he has taken care of himself. Like set up his meds, done is own blood sugar checks etc. Then that all changed.  The first week of May he had a series of mini strokes.  He was in the hospital for a few days then sent home. The strokes didn't seem to cause any physical problems, just mental.  His brain was not working well, he would say the wrong words. But it wasn't too bad.  Then a month later it happened again. We were getting ready for church, he had been having huge headaches for days. Which by the way is not a normal symptom of a stroke. We had come into the bedroom hand on his head and in pain. I had to leave the room for something and came right back and found that we had thrown himself on the bed and was pounding on it. His headache was excruciating. So needless to say, instead of going to church we went to the ER.

The CT scan showed that more mini strokes had happened. That the main artery on one side of his head was completely blocked. So my non expert opinion was that the horrible pain he was having was from the blood flow being stopped and built up and it put pressure on the artery wall.  And it had to go somewhere so it pushed its way through somewhere and rerouted itself. :(  Part of this side of his brain is atrophied. Meaning dead. And it effected his memory and his speech.  He spoke fine and understandable but would say the wrong words more than before. This time he was in the hospital for a week or so and then in a nursing home for a month.
The doctor ordered a speech therapist and she came and did 'think' therapy.  He had to learn to think with a different part of his brain. Thinking is more complex than we can imagine.  He has problems also with telling time and reading and knowing the days and things like that. He is frustrated alot when he can't tell me what he is thinking or what he wants.  He knows what he wants to say but when it comes out it's wrong. :( Sometimes he is ok and says everything correctly. That is good. :)

The 'ride' though is that his blood sugar to day went from 391 way too high, to 59 way too low in just a couple hours. Too much to deal with sometimes. :(

I am taking care of his meds now and doing his blood sugar checks and injections. It has been a very trying time.  But we are getting along. I do need a break. Writing here and visiting with you all helps me a lot. I am glad you are here.
Ok the other 'ride'...
When my son and I lived in Utah we went to a place called Lagoon. It is just north of Salt Lake City.  There are rides, games, places to eat. And an Old West area where you can ride horse and wagon and get your picture taken wearing clothes from the 1800's.  This year a new ride was opened. The Colosses. I don't know if I spelled that right. It is a giant roller coaster. My son and I got in. I felt that there should have been more cushioning around the neck and head. I held on to him as best I could so that he wouldn't get whiplash. It was a great ride. I have not been on one since though. This ol gal  ended it there. lol
As you are riding around and come to a certain place a camera takes a picture of you.  I was thinking that would be a nice memory to keep. Well, when the ride was over and we went to get our picture I was just sick. :( Not from the ride but from the fact that the boys who sat behind us obviously knew where the camera was and decided to put their middle fingers up in the air as we went by. So it spoiled our picture. I had to mark it out. Oh well... life  goes on.

Anyway, those are my two 'rides' to remember. I think I have written a book here. lol My goodness, took me about 50 mins to write this. Wow!
Hope you are having a great Friday. Take care ((HUGS))

WHEW!

Whew!  I got it back. YAYYYYYYYY!!  Thank you Lisa for wanting to help and ask your son. :) Thank you for caring and for the nice comments you always leave me.

I was just in tears.  I thought I had lost everything. Sniff. :)  I was ready for a little white jacket and a padded room.
When I got it all back the colors were all wrong so I fixed that. Except, there is light blue in places now that is hard to read. I don't know what to do to fix that.  I guess I will figure it out.

Anyway, I am ok now. Have a great evening and a wonderful Thursday everyone. Take care :)

HELP! HELP! :(

Help! Help!  As you can see, I have done a dumb thing. And in trying to get help to undo it I have forgotten what I did so I can undo it. Oh dear :(   I wanted to see if I could make this a 3 column blog. Know I have a Template tab instead of a Design tab.  It is the difference between Classic template and whatever else.  Now everything is gone...Does someone know what I can do to get everything back to how it was?

With things this way I don't have the page element and gadgets so I cant just add things back.  The only way to add things now is by HTML.  I am an old, well slightly old lady and I don't know how to do that stuff lol
Help, Help! Please...Take care all.

Cold Cold Cold Cold...did I say its cold?

Hi all, I hope you had a great Monday.  It is now 2:06 am, no matter what the posting time will say down below. :)  The weather thingy on the sidebar says it is 2 degrees.  The yahoo toolbar on my browser says it is 4 below.  BRRRRRRR

Today my car door lock was a little frozen.  And the car windows were a lot frozen. Saturday I went to Subway, a sub sandwich drive through place here and had to open my door to order, brrr.  And when I got to the window I had to open the door again to pay and get my food, cause the windows were frozen shut, brrr again.  And Sunday was cold too. brr

And tonight, the last two times I took Princess Downy out to go potty, I stood in the doorway waiting for her and freezing lol.  More brrrr.  Ok, all this brrrr-ing is making me cold again. lol I will stop now.

The winter weather here in Evanston, Wyoming  is nothing compared to the winter weather in Rawlins, Wyoming.  We lived there for a year and a half. The wind there is fierce. Rawlins is out in the middle of nowhere.  There are no hills, mountains, or trees to break the winds.  Rawlins is a nice little town where everyone has the same hair style, the windswept look. :)

When we were there, the winter winds were so bad that the siding on one of the buildings in our apartment complex was torn off.  When it snowed and was windy at the same time, it was nuts to even go outside. Temps of 20 below or colder. Car doors frozen. Lock to the front door of the apartment frozen.  We had to use the neighbor's hair dyer on the lock. lol.   Oh and it was smart to go to the bathroom before coming home cause you never knew when the lock would be frozen and you'd be  dancin' while using the hair dryer on the lock. :)

We lived on the top floor of our apartment building and the wind was so bad that I thought for sure it was going to whisk us away and drop us in Munchkin Land. One windstorm made the part of town near downtown look like a war zone.  Signs down all over.  Trees that were a hundred years old or more ripped out of the ground. Cars smashed by trees. Trash everywhere. Wyoming has its own "Windy City".  Wait, didn't I say I was going to stop talking about the COLD?  LOL, silly me.

I loved the town though. It was small. The people were nice.  Our church friends were so sweet that I wanted to just bring them all with us when we moved back here. I sure miss them all.

Well, I should go. It is late and I have a few more things to do before bed. Have a wonderful Tuesday . Thank you for your comments and for visiting.  Take care, ((hugs))

Sunday Ponderings....

Hi everyone, I  hope you all have had a wonderful Sunday.

Tonight's Sunday Ponderings  is not about spiritual things. It is about the weather. Yes the weather. I was sitting here thinking about how nice and cold it is outside. The  wind blowing great gusts that shake the house. The snow falling. How I love that. Then all of a sudden the cold was inside. LOL

Yep, the last great gust of wind that shook the house came right down the chimney pipe to the furnace and blew the pilot light out, again. This is the second time, I think, in two weeks or so.  My husband can't fix it. And I don't, well didn't have a clue. So I had to call a friend to come down and fix it.  It was 9:30 pm.  I don't like to call people after 9 pm.  They were already in their jammies and ready for bed. Oh dear. : (  But said they would come and help.  On top of that they lived up on the hill. The roads there are steep and windy and slippery.  With the snow and ice and 8 degree temps, which is supposed to get down to  at least -2 or more during the night, I was worried about their drive.

NOT a good time to have no heat either. I was glad that this hadn't happened any later in the night.
So tonight I got a lesson on how to relight the pilot light.  And I will go to the store tomorrow  and get long stick matches. I think also, that the chimney top on the roof needs replacing. I think it is broken and that is why the wind can get down into the furnace.

That was the highlight of our day lol. Oh and the Greenbay Packers won. They are still undefeated this season. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PACKERS (that's for my husband, he is a big Packers fan)  We got cable again and he was able to watch the game today.  I am glad he was able to see them win.

Well, gotta run, it is late. Have a great Monday. Take care

You Inspire Me

Yes, you inspire me. :)  In the few weeks that I have had this blog I have 'met' many nice people. Many women who are good, caring, and fun to know.  I am in awe of your talents. You make wonderful crafts and home decor, own and run craft businesses, you are brave in that you want to live on farms, homesteads and raise you own animals and food.  And you cook and bake everything from scratch.

YOU ARE AMAZING!

I ALMOST want to be a 'from scratch cook' again." :)  I say almost because I am not quite there yet.  I am close.  I am 'thinking' about the smell of bread baking in the oven, of making cinnamon rolls, scones, biscuits, even  pies. I haven't been able to do this in a very long time. But I want to.  Keep it up ladies, I'm almost there. :)

And I totally love the crafts that I see on your blogs.  The vintage, old fashion, primitive style.  That is type of things I will be making in my business.
I also love the unique-ness of your blogs.

I am so grateful for being able to 'meet'all of you and follow your blogs. I love getting comments from you. I especially love the 'togetherness' that is there when some one is in need of prayers. I know that prayer changes things. It is a great thing to see the big and small miracles.

You are in my prayers.  Have a wonderful Friday. Take care

December Already?? :)

HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE! :)

Wow! I can't believe it is December already.  I love this time of year. I have probably already said that in a post somewhere. lol
It is snowing here. Only lightly. And the wind is blowing a lot. It is 1:12 am.

WHOA! Just had a huge gust of wind here.  It rattled the house and knocked things around on the porch, I think. I hope it doesn't blow out the pilot light in the furnace like it did last time. BRRRR was it cold in here then.

Just wanted to say hi and have a good Thursday. Love the snowman picture.  Take care all.

Monday

Hi all, I hope everyone had a good Monday.  We had a restful day. Kinda good and kinda not.  We did not get to sleep until 4-5am.  And slept in a bit. My husband has trouble sleeping sometimes. It is after midnight now and he is watching a dvd. Same one he watched earlier. lol

Anyway, gotta run. Have a wonderful Tuesday.  Take care.

Sunday Ponderings....

Hi everyone, :)  We had a nice lesson in Sunday School today. We are studying the New Testament, and today's lesson was from 1st and 2nd Peter. After I came home and was thinking about the lesson, I thought of something...

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
A definition of perfect is--whole or complete. So Heavenly Father is perfect, whole and complete.

How can we be perfect? Jesus was our example, and He taught us the things that we can do. If He said to be perfect 'whole and complete' then I know it is possible. To me this means if we strive to do all the things He asks us to do, if that is a goal, then we are on our way. :) There will be times when we make mistakes or have to repent but that is part of life. We sincerely repent, and forsake, HE forgives then, we start again. It is wonderful.  What is your idea about this?

The words of Peter are great. He spoke of things we can do or the type of people we ought to be. If you get a chance to read his words,  let me know what you think, ok?

I love to Ponder the scriptures :)

Have a wonderful week. Take care all

Christ the Savior is Born

AND it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.  (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)  And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.  And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Luke 2:1-19

Christmas

Hi everyone, well Christmastime is here. :) I just love this time of the year.  I love the cold and the snow. And we do get an abundance of both things here in my neck of the woods. I just love it.

I do love the excitement of the children, the decorations, the smell of home baked foods in the house. The roaring fire in the fireplace and hot cocoa on cold nights. I love how everyone is just extra nice and happy.

But what I love most of all in the Reason for the season.

We celebrate the birth of the Son of God. Jesus Christ, who taught us how to live, love and pray. He showed us by example how to treat  people and how to love everyone, no matter their race, creed (belief), color, because we are ALL brothers and sisters and children of God.  And we all deserve to be treated as such.  He showed us how to forgive, turn the other cheek.

But above all he showed us how to love.  He loved us so much that he died for us. He suffered all the mental, emotional and physical pains that we suffer. But he suffered this for ALL the people who ever lived, who live now (us) and who ever will live.  He did this so that if we accept this and are obedient to his teachings, have faith in Him, repent, and be baptized, we would not have to suffer so greatly for our sins and we would be resurrected in the last days. What a wonder gift.

What a wonderful example of love. I love Jesus and Heavenly Father so much for this gift.

Where would we be if Jesus didn't do this?

So I pray that we will ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM.  And especially at this time of the year when the excitement of the world is overwhelming, that we will remember the real reason we celebrate. Take care.

Black Friday?

Well, we had a fun time at my sister in law's.  And as I mentioned before she DID have their Christmas tree up. And her log home living room is so nice and cozy.  Dinner was great. My tummy still feels full, but my taste buds are wanting something. I am not sure what to do about that. lol

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends

Those of you who are going shopping tomorrow or are already sitting outside waiting for a store to open,  have a great time. Take care
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

I Am Thankful for...

Each of us have so many things to be thankful for. We thank the Lord for all of our blessings; our families, friends, jobs, the roof over our head, etc. This night before Thanksgiving day I am thinking about something that I haven't thought of before at this time of year. I am grateful for my religion, my faith.  In the 14th-16th centuries or so many people in other countries wanted the freedom to worship God in their own way. To not be dictated to by the government/churches of their states or countries.  I believe that this country, America was meant for this purpose.  That God's hand was in the discovery of this land.  And he guided those here who wanted to worship him freely.  He choose good religious men to write the laws of the land and of religious freedom. This is to be a land of religious tolerance.  I am grateful for that. I am grateful that I am free to choose my religion.  To worship Heavenly Father his way. One of the Articles of Faith of my church is:

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

I am thankful that we all can worship according to the dictates of our own conscience.  That we can all be friends whether we believe exactly the same or not.  That we can learn and grow from each other. Be uplifted by  each others faith. And be Christians and not hated for it.

May we all be ever thankful for our freedom of religion. May we love each other as Jesus taught.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 13: 34,35

I wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.  Take care all....(((HUGS)))

ITALY :)

WOW! When I came to my blog today I found that the flag of a country that I have been to had been added to my visitors counter. ITALY.  I am always excited when I see that I have had more visitors, especially visitors from other countries. :)

I lived in Italy for just over a year and a half back in 1982-1984.  It is the only place I have ever been outside of this continent.  I was there for my church. Rome, Naples, Pisa, Florence were the cities that I was in, for a few months at a time. It is a very different place than the USA. The culture is different.  And they have a lot of art.  The buildings are older of course, and the architecture is amazing. I went to and climbed up the leaning tower of Pisa. The Vatican dome is fun to climb up to also. And we drove past the Colosseum. With only one day a week off it is hard to see all there is to see, what with doing laundry, shopping and writing letters home.  I was there for my church and really didn't have time to see much. But that was ok because I loved what I was doing. :) Talking to people about the Lord. About His plan of salvation for us. And about His great love for each of us. :)

The people of Italy are so sweet and friendly.  Most of the people in the southern areas only speak Italian. It is a different dialect than what I learned before going there. A lot of the  people in the north speak English as well. I went to an open market in  Florence I think it was and heard many different languages.  Everywhere I went the people were very sweet and giving. You've heard of Southern Hospitality. Well the people in Italy are just like that.

While I was reading this over, I remembered something that happened. :)  It was Sunday, we were at church in Naples.  The church is up on a hill and is built on stilts in the back because the back of it hangs off the cliff. I think it happened the Sunday I was to give a talk at church. We were all just minding our own business having a nice church service, and then... the ground moved.  THE GROUND MOVED?!?!?  Yep, it did. Oh, I forgot to say that the church was just a ways away from a volcano,  like almost across the street. Well, everyone took off out of the church, faster than Superman changes his clothes in the phone booth. This was not the first time I had been in an earthquake. So I was relatively calm. Unaware that unlike Seattle earthquakes, Naples earthquakes do major damage.

Naples, has BIG earthquakes and volcanos erupting and it is very scary for those who live there. They had just been through one the year before that had devastated the area.  Buildings falling, ceilings caving in. They are close to several major volcanoes.   We, my companion and I, spoke to a family who lived just a few blocks from our apartment ,on the top floor of a building. They had lost their ceiling in the earthquake of '81 and it wasn't repaired. So we could see the roof of the building while in their home. :(  An older lady we visited hardly ever left her apartment anymore. She lived a few floors up. The elevator did not work anymore, and the building was being supported in the middle by tall  logs like our power poles.  It was sad.  She would let down a basket from her window each  day and buy food from the  vendors when they came by.

Anyway, it was a very interesting and enlightening experience to live there and to visit with the Italian people. :) I learned a lot during that time.  There were also some interesting and funny times there too. I may tell you about them sometime. :)  Gotta run, take care.

I'm So Excited! Again :)

Well everyone, this evening I have come up with the best idea.  I have a name and a theme for my craft business and  business blog.  I can't wait to tell you. But I will have to. I have to get a lot of things ironed out. I am so excited about it I just can't stand it. YIPPIE!!  LOL  I just don't know what else to say. I will probably not sleep tonight for thinking of all the things that I need to do.  And how fun it is going to be to work on getting things ready.  LOL I just told my husband that I don't think I am going to get any sleep tonight. He said.  AW Janet, you just gotta go to sleep.  Or something like that, said in a slightly 'grumpy' tone. lol  He's funny.  Well, I do have to go now and TRY to sleep. I think it is also too early for me to sleep. This is going to be hard. Ok. Everyone take care and have a good night and a great Tuesday. ((HUGS))

Just A Quick Note

Changes have been made as you will see as you go along. I have rearranged my sidebar.  And removed a couple things. One is the Some of My Favorite Scriptures space.  It will return in a different more prominent way. :)  Later all...Take care

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Hi everyone, it is now 11:47pm.  I have my work done and I think I am ready for Sunday. :)  Usually at this time I am still running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Hmm, not sure if I like that saying. :(  I have been having so much fun with this blog, and reading others blogs that I could sit here all night. :)  But hubby is already in bed and I said that I would be in in a few minutes. So I can't stay long.

Welcome to my new followers. Lol, that sounds funny.  Thank you for stopping by.  I will enjoy stopping by your blogs again.  Have a wonderful Sunday and a great week. Take care all,  byeee :)

Sunny And A Little Breezy

Well, after a nice warm night sleep we woke up to sunny and a little breezy. When I signed off here last night, or early early this morning and went to bed, I checked outside and saw that I would have to clear the snow off the porch again in the morning before the Princess would be able to go out. :)

My first peek outside today surprised me. The porch was clear. I thought maybe the sun had melted it.  I looked at the stairs and the ground below and at our two car driveway (no garage) and saw that they were cleared off too. Somebody must have come over and cleared the snow away while we were sleeping. ( Hmm, While You Were Sleeping, I like that movie.)  lol
Now, this could have been done by the nice new neighbor lady next door because I cleared her porch the other day. Or it could have been done by sweet friends from church who thought of us.  I am betting on the latter.  Out on the driveway it looks like the work of a snow blower. And I know that the lady next door doesn't have one. Anyway, I think I know who it was. :)

Today is my 'get ready for Sunday' day.  Any housework that is needed gets done so I don't have to look at it on Sunday. :) And any shopping I need to do that can't wait til Monday gets done. I save my Sundays for Heavenly Father.  He blesses us so much each day and all he asks of us is that we keep this one day, the sabbath day holy. That we use this day to remember him and his son Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made for us. I will write more of my thoughts on the sabbath day sometime. :)

I am grateful for the new friends I have met here. I am grateful for your support and comments. I pray that Heavenly Father will bless you with good health, happiness, and the things that you stand in need of. More later....I think. :) Take care.

Last Snow Update For the Night

It is 1:39 am.  A little while ago I swept and shoveled the snow off the porch for the 4th(?) and final time of the evening. Princess Downy had to go out one last time. :)  The snow has almost stopped and I think we have  a foot or more. We might get more through the early morning hours.  It has been an interesting day. I hope everyone will have a great weekend. And enjoy whatever kind of day the Lord sends you. Take care. :)

Welcome to Rugs And Pugs :)

Welcome Rug and Pugs in Ohio. Thank you for wanting to follow my blog. Isn't blogging great? :)

Snow Update :) And Welcome To Cousin Robin And Husband Barry

Yesssssssssssssssss. LOL it is still coming down.  We have about 5 inches or so now.  It is now just after 8:30 pm.  Although the post will say some other  strange time.  I am still trying to figure that out. :) I have swept the porch/deck off twice already and will have do it again so Downy can go out. Wow! Just looked outside again. It is so pretty.  I wish I had a digital camera to take pictures so I can put them right on here.  I will get one soon though. :) But for now we will have to wait until I take the camera to the store for them to send it away for a week

Today I was able visit for a little while with my cousin in law Barry on MSN messenger. He is married to my cousin Robin.  They live up in the Pacific Northwest. I told him about my blog and he went to it as we were speaking :).

Robin is into family history/genealogy like I am.  I just love it.  It is an addiction with me. A good one.

Oh and the picture of me  with Downy is a few years old. She has more hair now and so do I. LOL And I am a little more scarier looking now. LOL   Be right back. Downy needs to go out.

Back LOL Cute little critter.  I had swept a few feet out from the door and Downy came out. The snow came up to at least her belly or maybe higher she went around trying to figure out how to get to the stairs, then turned around and went back in the house. Like no way, man. LOL   I had to sweep more before she could go down the stairs to the yard. :)
OH, it is sooooo nice outside. Another snow update later :) Byeee

Warm Warm And Hot Cocoa And Snow :)

Some time during the night our furnace went out and oh boy was it cold.  I think we need more than just two thin quilts. Great gusting winds last night rocked the walls and went down the chimney blowing out the pilot light. My husband can't fix things any more and we didn't have a good flashlight to see inside or I would have fixed it. So we had to call someone. And only a few minutes ago did someone finally come to fix it. It's almost 5pm. We may need a part called a Thermocouple. Don't know if that is the right spelling or if it is two words. I hope we won't need that.

And just about a 1/2 hour ago the snow came. May have a couple inches all ready.  The weather report on my trusty cell phone said that today we would get 2 to 4 inches.  And tonight 6-10 inches more. WOOHOOO!! Here it comes! LOL I love it.

I have cocoa right now. The cup warms my hands. :) Its my toes that are froze. lol  Snow update later..Have a great weekend.:)

You Silly Girl :)

Hi everyone, not sure what to say tonight. It is 2:18 am.  You are probably thinking 'go to bed you silly girl.' lol  I am a night person. But I am sorta trying to be a not-so-late person. I had a nap today well, yesterday because I took a muscle relaxing pill. Dr. just ordered them because I am having pain from head to toe all the time. Like my arthritis and fibromyalgia  pills are not working. Dr. thinks it may be my muscles going nuts.  Yes, that is the official diagnosis. LOL I don't like having to take pills but I am a wimp when it comes to pain.  Well, I had this new pill, flexeril a few days ago for the first time. It is supposed to make you drowsy. I wasn't worried about that because I usually don't have any problems with drowsiness. Well, it made me more than drowsy, and it waited till about two hours after I took it to do it.  I was sooooo tired that I went to sleep for I don't remember how long.  I said to myself nope not taking that anymore.   So what did I do today well, yesterday?  I took it again and a couple hours later had a two hour nap. This is just taking one. Dr. wants me to take three in a day if I have to. Can you imagine my life on three? I don't even like the idea of sleep walking, let alone sleep LIVING.   Nope nope. I will pass thank you. :)

Oh no, I am hungry. Nope, go to bed you silly girl. LOL  Have a great Friday everyone. :)

The Moment You Have Been Waiting For....

TAH DAH !! This is Downy. Awwww ain't  she sweet?  Please ignore the mess behind.  We were just moving in or moving things out to our storage unit. And ignore me. lol  Only one eye has dark circles under it here. This is the best post-chemo picture of me. Others are too scarey to share. lol

Downy is a Maltese. She is now about 9 yrs old. This is as big as she will get. Well, except she is a little bigger now. She has been a little piggie the past year and has gained a little weight. Maltese are very friendly little dogs.  Downy  always has to be where the action is.  If someone comes to the door, or she hears someone in the house she will come flying out the of back room to see who's here.  If you rub her tummy you got a friend for life.  She LOVES tummy rubs.

We got her in 2004. In the spring my husband had a stroke. It didn't cause mobility problems. It was a small stroke. Still a bit scarey. This was in April. We were living in the mountains as security/caretakers for a gated area in the Uintah mountains in northern Utah. Someone found Downy just wondering along the highway and brought her to us. Mel road around the area to see if she belonged to anyone.  He came back with her and she spent the night. The next day I checked outside our gates and found her owners.  They were a family from our church.  Mel had become attached to her already and it was hard to give her back. A few days later they asked us if we would tend her on Tuesdays cause no one would be home. We said yes of course. Then a few days after that they asked if we wanted her. We said YES of course. So that is how we got her.  She and Mel are so attached to each other. And she is just the funniest little thing.  She even fights with her food. lol She will get a piece of food from her dish in the kitchen and bring it out to the living room and throw it, then crouch down like she is getting ready to pounce on it. Then she springs at it. LOL She even grrrrs at it. LOL  Sometimes she loses her food  under the chairs when she throws it.

More about little  Downy another time. It is late. Hope you have a great Wednesday.

Pondering and New Stuff

It is about 12:15 am.  The time on this post will show earlier.  Not sure why it does that. New stuff, well I changed my template as you can see, I like it. I have added and removed some things too.  Twincreek Primitives really has some great graphics and templates. If you'd like to check out what they have, the url for their site is at the end of my first post.

I have been pondering a little lately about what to do on this blog.  I have enjoyed all of the new blogs that I have seen. They have many different things in them. They talk of the weather, how the snow will be coming soon,  of family, friends, good times.  New meal ideas, and crafts. And the blog owners faith in God.

I love to hear about all these things. I was thinking about the scriptures. And the word ponder. To ponder means to  weigh in the mind with thoroughness and care…to reflect or consider with thoroughness and care.  To think deeply and seriously about something.  This is the way we should think about and read the scriptures. Our relationship with God is what should matter most in our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 '....seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.'  Meaning if we put Him first then all other things will take care of themselves.  I think I would like to have a weekly "Pondering" post.  A post that talks about a certain verse or group of verses.  With a question to ponder.  First question,  What ways can we put God first in our lives? Would you like to share your thoughts? Have a nice day everyone :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME

WOOHOO!!

Sunday Scripture Time 1 :)

Sunday, oh how I love Sundays. This one started a little like Saturday began and ended, hurting all over. :(Still not sure why. I didn't feel like I could get up and get ready for church without more aching. I do hate missing church. :( I did watch a devotional and two scripture discussion programs on tv though. That was nice.  And I looked for verses about being thankful and giving thanks unto the Lord.  Here are a couple:

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalms 95:2

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalms 100:4

I am sure there are many more. What are some 'thankful' scriptures that you like?

Welcome :)

Hi again, just wanted to welcome those who have decided to follow my blog. I will try to make it exciting.  Not sure if that will happen ALL the time, but I will try :)  I would love to check out your blogs if you have them.  Please let me know the url, ok?  And thank you to those who have  made comments. It is a nice surprise to get up in the morning and find comments. :)

I have made a few changes to my blog today.  I have removed some  pictures and added a new section.  It is called, Some of My Favorite Scriptures.  I love reading the scriptures.  I love studying them and talking about them.  They are the word of God to us.  They are to be read, studied, pondered over, prayed about. There will be verses that you are all familiar with and a few that you may not have seen before. I look forward to sharing them with you. Take care, have a wonderful Sunday.

Saturday and Cricut

Hi everyone, I hope that you are having a good weekend.  Mine started out not so good and got worse. Not sure why but have been hurting all over  all day. :(  Saturday is not the day for this to happen. It is my work day.  It's the day I get ready for Sunday. :)   It is 11:34 pm.  I am not ready.  I shoveled about 5 or so inches of heavy snow of two decks and stairs and around my car, and cleared a space in the yard for Downy.  I swept and vacuumed and did dishes (not all of them), dusted, and did laundry. Is that all? Well, I ran out of steam. Isn't this sounding like last Saturday? Except for the snow and running out of steam. lol

Ok, this is not what I wanted to talk about. The title of this post says Cricut not Work. lol Does anyone out there have a Cricut?  For some reason mine is not doing what it is suppose to.  Or I am not doing what I am supposed to.  I need to know what are the settings for cutting vinyl. The blade #, regular blade or deep cut blade, speed, and pressure.  And when I tried to get the vinyl off of the mat the mat wouldn't let go. The backing tore and I had to spend time picking it off of the mat.  I have to get some things made this week using the Cricut. My goodness, this is just not my day. lol  Ok, I am done fussing.  Oh wait!  AND I have a hole in the bottom of my foot. Ok, now I'm done.

Well, speaking of snow.  :)  Yes, it snowed today. It was nice about 5 maybe 7 inches. I LOVE snow.

In Remembrance

Today we remember those at war.  The wars of the past. present, and future.  My son Rob went to Iraq in 2005 at the same time I was having chemotherapy treatments. It was hard for both of us. Thank you Lord for email.  I was able to hear from him every day except when they had communication blackouts. He and his entire unit came back safe. He came back physically safe.  But emotionally he is a mess. :-(  He is soooo angry. It hurts me inside.  I don't know what to do for him.  I just pray hard. One day I will know.

We pray for the safe return of our servicemen and women. We pray for the wounded. And we pray for those who are mourning the death of their loved ones. ( I have tears now for all of us). Thank you to the families whose husbands, fathers, sons, brothers care for this country enough to die to keep it free for all of us. I wish no one had to die.

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

Downy Again...:)

Hi there!  Yesterday we went to Utah. Riverdale, Utah to be precise.  Me, Mel and Downy. Mel and Downy spent most of the time in the car.  Mel has a hard time getting around. And Downy, well...how many stores will let dogs in?

The purpose of the trip was to go shopping for craft supplies. I had bought  what I could here in town at Walmart.  That wasn't very much, and there is no other place in town to get things.  First stop was Michael's. Michael's is a craft supply store in the West.  I don't know if they are nation-wide. They have a wide variety of things. But they did not have all that I needed.  I was able to buy a paper cutter/trimmer, and etching solution. No cartridges for my Cricut.  So on we go to JoAnn's another neat store. I think it  started out as a fabric store only and then after a while went on to include a bigger selection of art and craft items.  Here I was able to get one cartridge, Winter Lace that has snowflakes on it, vinyl and transfer tape for it, and some adhesive dots.

After this we headed for home. At about the half-way point we got off the interstate for a break.  We stopped in Morgan, Utah at a little gas station/minimart place.  Mel went inside to go potty. And Downy (our doggie) stayed outside to go potty.  I had to carry her a ways across the parking lot to get to a grassy area.  And boy, did she have fun. All the leaves had fallen from the trees and were crackling under her feet.  We don't have trees in our little yard so she is not used to leaves.  She did what she went there for and then went running all over the place. It was hilarious.  I through leaves on her too. lol  Then we are on our way again.

I wanted to be ready for  our Santa's Workshop event on the 19th, but because of how long it is taking for things to come together I am afraid that it may not happen.  I have only a week to make enough things to sell, and I am having a hard time getting a hold of the people who are in charge, to see if I can get a booth.  If I am not ready then I will work toward being ready for the spring craft bazaar. When I get some things made I will take pictures and put them on here for you to see. :)

BRRRRRRRRRRR Doggie!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR  My goodness!  It is only about 23 degrees outside according to Yahoo,  and I was freezing. Usually it takes lower temps than that to make me cold.  Little doggie, Downy, whose picture I will try to remember to post some time, had to go potty. Sometimes she can go down the stairs on her own and other times she will pace the top step looking like she is trying to figure out how to get down. Well, guess what, tonight mamma had to get a sweater on and go out in stocking feet and pick her up and take her down the stairs. lol  Whats funny is is that the minute I pick her up she is trying to get down. She flaps her front legs like she's trying to fly or swim or something. Then, this time it just takes 2 seconds or so to do what she went out there for.  Usually she has to sniff every blade of grass or pile of 'other stuff' in order to decide where to 'go', when she has found the general area that suits her she goes around and around and around and around in circles before she lands. LOL Sounds like a plane waiting to land. She is a very sweet, cute and friendly little white Maltese.  She is almost 9 years old. Later when I get a  picture of her up I will try to remember to tell you how we got her.

What I learned in Church...

Well, I had written something a few minutes ago about what we talked about in church, as I said  I would do in my last post. Then I deleted it.  Then I thought of something else I learned today.  I learned... that I was scary. Or is that scarey?  Neither word looks right to me. lol  But yes, I learned that I was 'that'.  My husband had left the chapel and hadn't come back in a while so I went to see if he was ok.  I found him sitting in the foyer.  Then I turned to go down the hall to the restroom. As I started down the hall a little girl was there. She was about 2 years old or so. She looked at me, her eyes got big, she made a sound  and she took off toward her daddy. And grabbed onto his leg. I even smiled at her but that didn't help. Now, I do not have a green face and a long nose. I didn't get close to her and say, ' I'll get you my pretty'. I just walked by.  I know that I don't look great.  No, really, I have dark circles under my eyes. I am starting to get my grandma's wrinkled neck.  And I don't have all my teeth anymore. But I really didn't think I was THAT bad. LOL  I really don't know what to think. Or how that should make me feel. Should I even post this? Oh well....

Whew! And Did You Remember to Turn Your Clocks Back?

Wow!  It is midnight now.  This day, Saturday, has been a very busy day.  It started out late. And ended in a mad rush to get the dishes done by midnight lol. I don't like to work on Sunday. It is my day of rest. Well, as much rest as one can get with rushing around in the morning getting ready for church. And 3 hours of church (which I love). And then trying to make something for dinner after.
And just what made today so busy you might ask? Well, lets see.....
  • I climbed a pile of stuff taller than me  in our storage unit and yanked out three long folding tables.
  • I rearranged the living room to make space for the tables as my work space for my business.
  • I dusted.
  • I vacuumed the living room and the hallway.
  • I swept the kitchen.
  • I hauled two window unit A/C out to the car, also some boxes and took garbage to the dumpster.
  • I made breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • And I washed a lot of dishes.
Right now I feel like I am 150 years old. LOL. But I am satisfied with how the house looks. And I won't have to look at work that needs to be done. Did that make sense? Whew!
Now I need to remember to change the clocks back before I go to bed.  I guess I will do that right now. Be right back. Ok, back. Done except for the one in the bedroom which will have to wait til I go to bed or til  in the morning. Did you all get yours turned back an hour?  Except for you  folks in Indiana and Arizona, I think it is. Well, has this been the most exciting post you have ever read? LOL Tomorrow it will be better. I can let you know how church was and what I learned.  I always go with the idea that someone is going to say something just for me.  Something that I need to hear. I love Sundays and church. And  once in a while I will be writing about my faith and what it means to me. :-)
Gotta go now.  You all take care and have a great Sunday and a wonderful week..byeee

YAYYYYYYY :)

Hi Everyone!  Ok, the post title is YAYYYYYYY for two reasons.  One, our car is fixed. It was dead for a week.  A week ago, Thursday I was in the Walmart parking lot.  I got in my car to go home. I turned the key and it did nothing. Now, I know it is not good to run a car on less than 1/4 of a tank but we just had to. And the gas light had been on. But usually I know how far I can go like that. Not that this has happened a lot. We still had four or five days til payday.  I was going to price some things and go home. I thought I had enough gas to do that and then to get to church and back and not drive again til payday and go right to the gas station. Well, I was wrong.  I have to admit that that happens once in a while. lol  A friend came over with some gas and I was able to get home.  The next day, wait, I think I am remembering wrong cause the next day we were at Walmart again.  I think I forgot earlier that we were going to get a little income sooner than the four or five days.  Anyway, we were in the same parking lot, I got into the car turned the key and  it did nothing.  I thought ok we have gas what is going on here. So maybe it is the battery, not sure why it would be acting up it is relatively new.  Someone came over with jumper cables and got us started and we went home. I thought I don't think I want to be in Walmart parking lot anymore if the car is not going to work every time.  The next day hubby wants to go to the mailbox which is clear around the block and he can't walk there, and the car doesn't start again.  So we find out from a friend from church that he thinks it is the starter so he takes it and finds out that it needs to be rebuilt. Oh my goodness!  Anyway he didn't come back til today to put it in.  They turned the key and it went VROOOOOOOM!  lol yayyyyy.  I know that this is really long so I will be brief with my second reason for my YAYYYYYY title.   IT'S SNOWING AGAIN!!
Take care all.

Cozy and Warm

AHHHHHHH Doesn't that fireplace picture look soooo inviting?  I'd like to be curled up in a chair by the fire with a mug of cocoa. Either watching the fire or watching the snow fall. Some day I will have a living room that looks like that. I'll live outside of town in a log home with the deer and other critters outside . More later....

Dashing Through the Snow WOOOHOOO !!!!

Woohoo!!  Oh ok, I already said that in this post title. LOL  Snow, snow, snow!  In case you haven't already guessed, I LOVE snow.  It snowed today, well during the night and on and off today.  What makes me so excited about it is, this time it was a surprise.  We don't have cable/dish right now so I didn't know it was coming.  This is our second snowfall of the year.  Our first was on the 6th of October.  It didn't stay around though.  I have been told that this time it will be nice for the next few days and then it is supposed to snow again on the weekend.  This time we have about  7 inches or so. :) I took some pictures before and after I shoveled off the deck/porch.  I will have to get them on here so you can see them.
The picture here of our front yard at Manorlands is from 2003-2004.  My husband and I were security and caretakers for Manorlands. It is a gated area in the Uintah Mountains of northern Utah.  We lived there for about 2 1/2 years.  I thought we would be there forever.  At least that was the plan when we signed on. But things happened and we moved on.  Only my heart is still there.  I miss it so badly.  We still get to go there once a year to so. We have family and friends that have cabins there.  But that is just not the same. *sigh*

My Goodness :)

My goodness!  There is so much to see on the Twin Creek blog that I may be up all night checking it out!  And there is a HUGE blog list there too.  My goodness lol.  I'd like to mention also that I starting my own business called, well not sure what its going to be called. I make cards for all occasions, etched glass items, and country and rustic decor. More products will be added in time.  I will have an online catalog soon as well.  I love crafting.  I am also completely addicted to genealogy.  Researching my family history has been a very enlightening experience.  I will probably write more about that later.  Uh oh!  I feel another blog title change coming on. YIKES! lol

Welcome

Hi everyone, and welcome to my blog.  In just the last 24 hours this blog has been through about 5 title changes and a few different purposes. At first I wanted to make this blog to respond to questions about my faith only.  Then I decided that I didn't want to make my blog ALL religion, even though my faith is my whole life and I love talking to people about religion.  So what I decided was to make this blog about other things that I liked as well. Last night I was thinking well, I like the colors of the leaves when autumn arrives, the snow in the mountains, the country, country decor and Americana.  I had a great picture up with my title of the snow in the woods of Minnesota.  Then this afternoon I was "googling" blog backgrounds and found a Great blog. It is called Twin Creek Primitives. It is just amazing.  You will love it. This is the link http://twincreekprimitives.blogspot.com/
