A WELCOME AND A WARNING AND DOWNY

Hi everyone,

I hope all of you have had a good day. I want to welcome my new followers. Thank you for visiting me. I look forward to getting to know you.

Now for the warning part. lol  Do any of you use Yahoo email?  I have several Yahoo email accounts. Two or three of them have been HACKED.  Some one has gotten into my accounts. I have received emails from a couple of you that you have not sent. Vicki I got one from you that had your name as sender. You may want to change your password.  When I opened it there was just a link. I even got one that was me sending me an email from one account to the other. :( If anyone gets one from me. Sorry.  Do not click on the link. Delete it as soon as you can. Or copy and paste it to some where so that you can tell Yahoo what it is.  They may say just 'hi' in the subject line. Or 'you gotta see this, in the subject line or with the link.

I have a friend that lives in Utah that has had the same thing happen to her Yahoo email. I got one from her that she didn't send.  All that have had this happen must get the toll free number to Yahoo Inc. and tell them that this has happened. And change your passwords.   Don't use passwords that are anything like the current ones. Don't use ones that are like names of family or pets. Or anything that people can guess. I know this sounds wild but it has happened to me and my friend and we are in two different states. I am wondering if it has anything to do with that FLAME virus or whatever that is messing up computers in the middle east and other places on that side of the world. Yahoo may have servers there somewhere.  Anyway please be careful. :)

On a lighter note, Princess Downy went on a little walk, or should I say run Sunday morning.  That little stinker. I took her out to do what doggies do in the morning. She did that then took off. I was hollering at her like crazy. I chased after her in stocking feet through uneven ground and rocks.  In the mornings I hurt from head to toe and my legs don't work good right away.  She went flying through yards and ended up 6 houses down the road.  Some people were out there and they didn't even stop her for me. :(  And she goes right up the stairs and into their house.  Then a guy comes out and says ' what happened?' I won't say what I was thinking. I just said, 'my dog is in your house'.

She finally came out I picked her up and brought her home. Mamma was mad and she knew it. Grrrrrr.  LOL

Has anyone heard of the blogtrain?  I got an email in my spam box that gave a link to click on to join. Even said some one had suggested I join. In my spam box?? Hmm

Other than that nothing exciting has happened in the past few days. The weather has been cool most of the time. Way cool at night. I like it like that. Scary to think that it won't be that way for long.

I should get going. Have a wonderful Thursday.
Take care

Three Blog Night LOL

Hi there,

Some friends and I were chatting earlier Tuesday evening about our dogs. I can't remember what was said, but I replied " I have my blogs to keep me warm." Oh we were also talking about the weather. Then a friend asked if I remembered the band called Three Dog Night. I said yes. He said something about the name coming from, oh something to do with the dogs keeping them warm or something, wish I could remember exactly what he said. Then he said " you can say Three BLOG Night." I thought that was very funny. Hmm, I guess you would have to have  been there. lol

Silly me...it is late almost 3:30am. I have been doing a little better at getting to bed earlier. Really I have. :)

Thank you for all your sweet comments. Have a wonderful day.

Take care

BRRRRRR 34 Degrees

Howdy all,

Wow the weather was wild today.  The wind was so strong I thought Princess Downy would blow away.  And it rained and it tried to snow.

The above picture is not what our weather was today. Just thought it was a pretty picture. Also sure wish that was our place. Isn't it lovely?

Did you know that there are only 212 days til Christmas? Just thought you might like to know. Better hop to it and get your decorations up and your shopping done. Time is running out. LOL

I hope all of you enjoy the rest of your extra long weekend. :)

Take care

MEMORIAL DAY

Hi everyone,

I am grateful to live in America.  I don't know if we really understand how lucky we are.  There are  still many countries in the world where people don't have the freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom to speak their minds like we have. Many of these people can't even be safe in their own homes.  That is sad.

I believe that God preserved this country for us. For a people who would stand up for their freedoms and follow his commandments. Take care of each other. We can't take God out of our schools, or government, or homes. When that happens we will no longer be free. We need to keep Him on our side. The early settlers of this country fought to keep us free. They came here from across the ocean to have these freedoms. Those who wrote the Constitution were God fearing Christian men with good values.

My 4th great grand uncle Alexander Gemmill died in a war in 1862.  My grandfather was in France during the war. My husband was in the Viet Nam war.  My son is in the service too, he went to Iraq.

This weekend we take the time to remember those who have fought to keep our country free. Especially those that didn't make it back alive.

Please pray for our troops that are away. Freedom isn't free.

Take care

My Mom's Mom

Hi everyone,

Last night my mom told me a little story about her mom that I had never heard before. I thought it would be a fun one to tell you about.

My grandma Florence was born in Kentucky in the early 1900's.  This is the only picture, well sorta picture I have of my grandma when she was little, very little...

This isn't my grandma, this is her sister Flossie. Grandma is behind her in her mama's tummy. :) We can pretend that she looks like this little one.  Who by the way, didn't live much longer.  She died soon after this picture was taken. She was bit by a tick and got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. :( Not sure how that happens in Kentucky. Guess those ticks travel quite a ways from the Rocky Mountains.

Anyway..the family moved to Washington state soon after this. Grandma Florence grew up in a little town called Reardan in eastern Washington. It was a little town on the railroad line. This was back when there were steam engines that pulled the trains. They were powered by wood or coal...

A man who was a good friend of the family worked for the railroad.  He would use a hand car...

...to go up and down the tracks to clear the tracks of anything that could cause a problem for the trains. He would also make sure that the tracks were always in good repair.

Grandma Florence and her friend lived quite a ways from their school. So every morning the two little girls would (for years) go down to the tracks hop on one side of Mr So and So's hand car. And with  him on the other side they would pump the handles up and down til they got to the crossing where they could walk the rest of the way to school.

Just picturing them made me smile. What a nice man to do this for them every morning AND afternoon for several years.  What a workout!

Makes me glad that I never lived too far from my schools. I always walked to school. Never lived far enough away to get to take a school bus. Don't remember ever getting a ride to school either.  I don't even remember ever seeing school buses back then. Lol

We walked everywhere. To school, the store, a friends house, to church.  To the TV to turn it on/off and change the channels. :)

Anyway, that's it for today. I hope all of you have a wonderful day.
And welcome to Barb my newest follower. :)

Take care all.

AHHHHHH....THAT FEELS SO GOOD :)

Hi everyone,

How is the weather is your neck of the woods? For those of you who are having really hot weather this post may be refreshing for you. :)  A friend of ours sent an email with the following pictures in it.

The Rain Barrel Mystery

Some  people living in Colorado Springs wondered why their rain barrel was always almost empty every day.  So they set up cameras, And look what they found...mystery solved...

Ahhhhh....

Have a great Wednesday my friends. :)

Seattle World's Fair 1962

Happy 50th Anniversary, Seattle Center!  Fifty years ago, April 18th 1962, Seattle Washington was the site of the World's Fair. Just over a month before then, I had turned 6 years old. My sister was just barely 5 years old.  My grandma's brother Kirk and his wife Margaret went to the fair.

It was amazing. It was decided to take the world into the Space Age. :)
Below are some pictures of the monorail. It went from downtown Seattle out to the fair and back. High off the ground. It was fast and scared my sister to death. She cried so hard and for so long that I thought that she wouldn't stop.

There was the Space Needle too. At the top there is a restaurant that turns so that while you eat you can get a great panoramic view of the city.  You can't even feel it turning. When I was in high school I had a friend who lived in Bellevue, Washington.  I went with her and her brother and mom to eat there. It was very nice.  Her mother left the waiter/waitress a $100.00 tip. Can you believe it? I almost fell over. lol

There is also an observation deck on the same level as the restaurant, I think. And half way up a stop with a gift shop. The elevator was outside so you can see out as you went up and down.  I hope I am remembering this right. :)

There was a science center there with big white arches. And a building with games in it. My favorite game was the Skeeball game. For years after the fair grandma would take us there to play.

In the food court building there were booths of foods from all over the world.  In the middle a stage for entertainers, bands mostly. And near the stage a very interesting looking thing....

It is called a Bubbleator. I had a better picture of it but saw something in it that I didn't want to show. lol It is an elevator that went up to the second floor. So cool.  The second floor was open down to the first, a balcony all the way around.  Shhhhh don't tell anyone ok? Up on that balcony was where I got my first kiss. Shhhh. :)

Then something that I didn't know, was that the stadium where later all the high school football games were played, used to be a ski stadium...

There is also a huge fountain there. The International Fountain, I believe it is called.  My friend and I would go there after the games and play in it.  Or around it. I think we were told a time or two to not be in it.

While  uncle Kirk and aunt Margaret were there they got their picture taken in front of a giant fenced in area of money. Like it must have been a contest thing to guess how much money was in it.  They also bought my sister and I little dolls and teddy bears.

Well I think this is the end of the post. LOL  It's long enough. :)

Enjoy Sunday. And have a wonderful week.

Take care

A Lazy Day

My goodness what a lazy day we had today. Embarrassingly lazy.

It was windy and a little rainy today.  I had a Dr appt and hubby had an appt too but since he didn't sleep well or maybe even at all during the night he was too tired to go. And I wasn't feeling well earlier. We cancelled both appts and went to bed.

And tonight I just can't think of a thing to write about. I guess I have blogger's block. :( I do have an idea but it is something that would take a lot of thought and organization of pictures and I don't think I have the strength tonight.

My goodness. I think the only thing I want or can think about tonight is moving. I think I mentioned it here a while back that we will be moving, soon hopefully, to Logan, Utah.  Logan is in northern Utah just a little ways from the Utah/Idaho border. It is just a couple hours away. I used to live there with my son just over 10 years ago. I loved it there. We still have friends there. A couple we know wants us to move back and we are going there to spend a couple days with them in a couple of weeks.

I am excited about going. May even meet one of my new blogging friends. She will be up from southern Utah to visit family in a month or two. It will be fun to meet her. I have another blogging friend from southern Utah too. It would be great to be able to see her sometime too. :) Also I think I may have a job. That will be nice. So I just want the next couple weeks to hurry by so we can be on our way.

Hmm, I guess I wasn't completely blocked. I did think of something to write about. :)

Gotta run though. Have a wonderful Friday ladies. Take care....

82 DEGREES...I'M MELTING

Oh my goodness! I can't believe how hot it was today.  I had to go to the dentist, and the grocery store.  Take Princess Downy to get her 'bangs'  and nails cut. We don't have a way to cut her nails and don't want to hurt her trying.

In this kind of weather I'd rather be at the North Pole. Be realistic girl,  how about a walk-in freezer?  :)  When I worked at restaurants and pizza places that is where I liked to spend a bit of my time when it got really hot working.

Poor Mr. Snowman..I thought I'd use a snowman melting instead of the green witch on the Wizard of Oz. lol  Don't want to have nightmares thinking about the flying monkeys. :)

Poor guy, he looks very sad.

Well I am  sure this was our record high so far this year and for this day of the year.

I've melted and I can't get up. LOL

Mrs Snowman doesn't look too sad. In fact, it looks like she is going Hooray! Or is that TOUCHDOWN. lol

Since I was able to spend most of the day in an air conditioned room in the house and  had a fan in the dentist office, and AC in the car. It wasn't too bad for me.. But....this is only spring. Still have to 'get through' summer. We only have a window AC in one room of the house. That is scary

Guess I should go. Have a wonderful Wednesday ladies.

Take care

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone,

I found this great poem about mothers on a blog I just read.  Had to copy it for you dear ladies. :)

Thank God for Mother's Love - Anonymous
There is no love, like a mother's love,
no stronger bond on earth...
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth.

A mother's love is forever strong,
never changing for all time...
and when her children need her most,
a mother's love will shine.

God bless these special mothers,
God bless them every one...
for all the tears and heartache,
and for the special work they've done.

When her days on earth are over,
a mother's love lives on...
through many generations,
with God's blessings on each one.

Be thankful for our mothers,
for they love with a higher love...
from the power God has given,
and the strength from up above.

It gets me all choked up. :)  I hope all of you have had a wonderful Sunday and Mother's Day.  That you felt extra special today.

Take care

Chocolate Chip Cookie Coma

Hello everyone,

I hope all of you have had a great week.

The other day I was checking out blogs and ran across this post on The Red Headed Hostess   website.  The blog is great. The author is LDS.  She has lots of great things on her site. :)

Anyway, you know how I am about chocolate. It was really difficult to get through her post without drooling. . LOL I so wanted those cookies. lol  So sometime soon I hope to make them they look yummy.

You need to check it out. I love how she describes them and how to make them. She has quite a way with words.

Well it is the weekend. And Mother's Day Sunday. I hope all you have a wonderful weekend and  a GREAT Mother's Day. :)

Here are some cute Mother's Day pics I found:

Are these cute or what?

Take care all :)

A Bright Sunshiny Day

Good morning everyone,

Well the sun is shining in through the kitchen window..reminding me the window needs washing. lol  It is also shining in on my whole kitchen that needs washing. LOL I have lots of housework to do today that I didn't get done last night.

And speaking of last night...this was me...

Last night as I was submitting a comment on a religion site that had posted an article about the president's latest 'announcement'. My computer went nuts and my browser went down.  I was still able to use my msn messenger and a chat room program.  How could my browser not work??? GRRRR lol.

I got so mad. I thought 'that's just great. I had put a lot of thought into this comment I had typed and it was gone. Something like this happened that last time I commented on something like this. :) I think it was on the CNN site.

I called the cable/internet people to see what was going on and was told that there was an outage in the area. Wonderful. It may be fixed tonight, but for sure by morning. MORNING???  That won't do people I am a night time browser-user. This was a hard thing for my poor ol' brain to take. LOL  But I survived. It did get fixed by around 2am I think. But I was involved with conversations in the chat room and all so I didn't get to do anything til now. Yes, I have been up all night. Silly me.

Anyway, I was so bummed about not being able to post here or to read your posts and make comments.  Now I am behind again. My goodness, I just caught up. lol  I missed you guys...

I don't necessarily love my computer because it really needs to be fixed, but my friends ARE in it. So I can say I love my friends.  All of you. I enjoy reading your blogs. And reading your comments on my blog.

I do have to get going now.  Have a wonderful day. Enjoy the sunshine or whatever the weather is doing in your neck of the woods.
Take care

Family Trip

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd show you a few pictures of a fun place my family went to when I was little.

This is Ocean Shores in Washington State.  We went there two or three times, I think.

Isn't it nice?  You know...I don't really remember it very well. I was in grade school when we went there. Maybe not more than 7 or 8 years old.

Lovely sunset. I just remember two things. We took a trailer and once I found 25 cents on the ground in the trailer parking lot. And 25 cents was a big thing then. LOL

Well, that's it. :)

Have a very blessed day my friends.

Take care

Freshly Mowed Grass

Good morning ladies,

Do you smell that smell? Breathe in deep through your nose...now can you smell it?  That is the wonderful smell of freshly mowed grass. I love that smell. :)

The grass really grew a lot in just this week. Even with little rain.  Did you know that the smell comes for gases that are released by each injured blade of grass?  And that the smell is actually a stress reliever? Cool :)

Just a few more spring pictures...

Ahhhh......so pretty. :)

Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday.....
