Snow Is Coming! WOOHOO! And Two Wild Rides

Well, as the title says, snow is on it's way.  I listened to the local forecast online.  The weather guy in his white 'snow coat' said that the mountains should get 8-10 inches tomorrow. I hope it comes and IS that much. We are in the mountains, kind of and really need it. Also there are about 4 or 5 storms lined up to hit us this week. I love the snow, the more the merrier, but I always pray that no one gets hurt on the roads.

Thank you to whoever woke up Ol' Man Winter. :)

Reading a friends blog earlier reminded me of something that happen to my husband and I about 10 years ago....

We were living in Logan, Utah in December of 2001.  We just had been married a few weeks and were going to go to the town of Morgan, Utah to see his niece get baptized.  It had snowed bad and the canyon, Sardine Canyon, which is notorious for causing accidents in the winter was the road we had to travel.  We were just tooling along in our jeep, which by the way we had only had for a couple weeks as a replacement for the little truck that got totaled with my husband in it a week after we were married. Everyone said it was a miracle that he wasn't totaled too.

Anyway, we were going a long the canyon road, two lanes each direction and a cement median in the middle, when all of a sudden we started sliding on the ice going around a curve. My husband was doing his best to turn the steering wheel this way and that to follow the direction the back end of the car was going. It was very dizzying. This lasted maybe just over 30 seconds which isn't an awful long time, but it is when you are spinning on the ice...finally it was over and we and the car were still in one  piece. Whew! I jokingly said something like 'that was fun, let's do it again'...well.....a few minutes later we DID do it again. It wasn't funny that time. Luckily we made it through again unscathed.  And I kept my mouth shut. :)

The people behind us both times were able to stop and stay back out of the way and we didn't crash into anyone or the median or into the hills on the roadside.  The rest of the trip was uneventful.

The baptism service was wonderful and the rest of the day was lovely.

I feel the Lord wanted us to be around for a while longer. He has things for us to do. :)

Will keep you updated on the weather. Because if the weather keeps up and the storms are strong you may get them next.  Only those of you who want them, of course. :)

Stay safe. Have a great Wednesday. Take care

  4. Hi Janet, thanks for visiting my blog! Your story reminded me of when we were driving north to a show when a semi flew past us,during a heavy snowstorm,on a long bridge, past a snowplow, and suddenly his rear fishtailed toward us. WHOA!! It was like slow motion as it slid. It JUST missed us. Glad you survived YOUR ride too!:) We're watching the weather--our older son is out in Seattle. Have a snowy day out, warm day in. 5. My parents both grew up in Cache Valley. So off to Young Ward during the summer and sometimes the winter. Sardine Canyon almost did us all in one winter. We started sliding towards a huge truck and then the edge of the road. How my Dad got the car straightened out I'll never know, but it was scary! I love Cache Valley, hate Sardine Canyon road!!!!!
